Talking Points: Chile Earthquake – March 5, 2010
The American Red Cross has increased its pledge to $500,000 for relief operations in Chile following the 8.8 magnitude earthquake on February 27; and we are prepared to provide additional relief supplies, trained personnel and financial assistance.

A "Touch of Home" to Service Members, Veterans and Family Members this Holiday Season
The American Red Cross and Pitney Bowes are teaming up to deliver holiday cards to service members, their families and veterans, many of whom will be far from home this holiday season. Between November 2 and December 7, the public is invited to send a "touch of home" through holiday cards that contain messages of cheer and appreciation. Cards will then be screened, sorted and boxed for delivery by hundreds of Red Cross volunteers.

New Red Cross Survey Finds That Women are Taking the Risk of Swine Flu More Seriously Than Men
A new American Red Cross poll shows that while concerns about exposure to the H1N1 (swine flu) virus remain high, women are more likely than men to make extra efforts to cover coughs and sneezes with tissue, wash their hands more carefully and use hand sanitizer more often.

Disaster Response Summary
The American Red Cross is on the ground in American Samoa continuing to support those affected by the tsunami, providing food, water and needed supplies, with more supplies en route. The American Red Cross has a warehouse on the island with stocks of cots, flashlights, cooking supplies and clean-up supplies, and will be sending in additional materials to support recovery efforts. Thus far, the Red Cross has served over 4,000 meals and is distributing comfort kits including items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant, combs, razors and more.

Red Cross Helping Families Devastated by Georgia Floods - DISASTER UPDATE 9/30
Red Cross volunteers continue to provide stability and hope for families in this time of chaos. Through mobile outreach into flood-affected areas, caseworkers are connecting one-on-one with people in need and providing financial assistance for food, clothing, shelter, and health-related concerns.  Red Cross Emergency Response Vehicles are providing mobile feeding and distributing clean-up supplies in flood-ravaged neighborhoods. Since flooding began, more than 700 Red Cross volunteers have been working to support the disaster-caused needs of families.

Red Cross Helping Families Devastated by Georgia Floods - DISASTER UPDATE 9/26
Vice President Joe Biden was in Georgia on Friday to tour damage from the flooding that has devastated families all across the state. “The Red Cross is doing God’s work,” he said after visiting a Red Cross shelter in Cobb County. More than 300 Red Cross volunteers are providing stability and hope for families in this time of chaos. To date, the Red Cross has sheltered 458 people (1,250 overnight stays), served 6,105 meals, and distributed 1,156 clean-up and comfort kits.
