For more than 90 years the
American Red Cross of Central Alabama has been helping our community prevent,
prepare for and respond to disasters. Since its founding in 1917, the local
chapter has been
working daily to help keep our neighbors healthy and safe.
The American Red Cross
exists to preserve life and alleviate suffering. It is a place families can turn
to for food, shelter and comfort when
fires and other emergencies strike. Around the clock and every day of the year,
the Red Cross is responding to local disasters, teaching first
aid and CPR classes, collecting life-saving blood, serving as a life link for
members of the military and their families, and helping communities near or far
during times of crisis.
Just last year alone, your local Red Cross provided assistance to victims of nearly 400 disasters, helped 476 military families with emergency communications, collected more than 10,500 units of lifesaving blood, and issued nearly 13,000 certificates in first aid, CPR, and other health and safety courses.
It is because of the generous support we receive from this community that we are able to provide such vital services. Your contributions of time, money and blood enable our volunteers and staff to carry out the lifesaving mission of the Red Cross.
The American Red Cross of Central Alabama is your local conduit to care and compassion. We hope you will consider helping support our humanitarian work by making a financial contribution, becoming a volunteer or donating life-saving blood. Together, we can save a life.
